FACT A recent Powersports Business poll revealed that more than half, nearly 53 percent, of respondents do not have a follow-up system in place for any of their departments. About 35 percent said they have a follow-up system for all vehicle sales but no other department. On average 85% to 90% of customers, do not purchase on the first visit. That means 65% of dealerships potentially mishandle up to 90% of the sales opportunities that present to the dealership.


DISPLAY AND PRAY Bad habits can form during a strong market, when staff are not concerned with due-diligence or making the most of every opportunity. They simply wait for the next warm body to walk through the door. When traffic slows and there is no process or procedure and no “opportunity bank” in place, they will continue to wait for the next warm body and complain that there is no traffic. Conversely, dealerships that use Traffic Log Pro, feel the industry wide reduction in traffic the same as everyone, however they are able to “withdraw from the bank” and continue to work with all contacts not just new walk-ins. This increase of “opportunity lifespan” can be a major contributor to what carries a dealership through tough times.
